The EU will allocate 1 billion euros to Lebanon for reforms

During her visit to Beirut on May 2, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and Cyprus President Nicos Christodoulidis discussed Lebanon's critical domestic and regional issues and how the EU can best support the country and its people. He noted that the EU will provide Lebanon with a financial assistance package of 1 billion euros for 2024-2027.

This continued EU support will strengthen essential services for the Lebanese population. Urgent economic, financial, and banking reforms will accompany it. In addition, support will be provided to the Lebanese armed forces and other security forces through equipment and personnel training for border management and anti-smuggling.
