"We believe a peace treaty will be signed between Azerbaijan and Armenia this year." Scholz

German Chancellor Olaf Scholz said this at the press conference held after the extended meeting with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, referring to the Armenian-Azerbaijani peace negotiations.
"It is good that the two countries' leaders are in dialogue. During our last meeting, you said all issues would be resolved through discussions. I expect both sides to show the necessary constructiveness. Germany is ready to support the two countries in the search for necessary compromises," Scholz said. The chancellor said that he received the news about the start of the demarcation process between Armenia and Azerbaijan. Evaluating this positively, Olaf Scholz said he believes in signing a peace agreement this year.
