"The spiritual authority has no right to participate in political processes." political scientist

The servicemen of the church and any citizen of Armenia have the right to express their opinion about this or that process taking place in the country. Political scientist Davit Stepanyan said this in a conversation with Radar Armenia, referring to the ongoing processes in Tavush and the participation of churchmen in them.

According to the political scientist's observation, if Bagrat Galstanyan announces that the Azerbaijani flag is flying at the Golden Ball and that the Armenian flag has been removed, he should have removed the hood before telling that lie and not spoken on behalf of the church.

"They consider this unacceptable because the image of the Armenian Apostolic Church today is not in excellent condition. And with such actions, spreading false news and spreading it in the name of a clergyman, in the clothes of a clergyman, you deal another blow to the church. And this, as a person of faith, as a citizen, is unacceptable to me."

According to Stepanyan, the church should not be a participant in political processes. "The church should not be involved in political processes because in our country, as far as I know, it is stipulated by laws: the secular and spiritual authorities are separated, and the spiritual authority has no right to participate in political processes at the institutional level. This is known to everyone and should also be known to our spiritual fathers. As for the actual processes of Tavush, they are quite destructive and dangerous for our statehood and sovereignty because of the people participating in those processes (we are not talking about the people of Tavush, but those who were sent from Yerevan); I am sorry to say. Also, the churchmen serve the interests of other countries, specifically Russia. And this is very dangerous and does not contain anything good for Armenia."
