Cuba has called on the US to ease sanctions

Cuba announced on Monday that it will insist on easing US sanctions and ending special treatment for Cubans illegally entering its territory at high-level talks on migration. Talks are set to begin Tuesday in Washington.

According to US authorities, the holding of the two annual meetings resumed in 2022 after they were suspended in the US during the presidency of Donald Trump and amid a record increase in the number of Cubans entering the US illegally since 2021.
