Azerbaijan intends to double its gas supply to Europe by 2027

In an interview given to Azerbaijani TV channels on October 6 in Prague, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev announced that Azerbaijan plans to increase gas exports to Europe significantly.

He noted that the geopolitical situation in the world has sharply increased the demand for Azerbaijan's resources. According to him, they are starting to operate new gas fields in Azerbaijan. Along with that, the extraction of existing mines will be increased. "At the same time, using renewable energy sources in Azerbaijan will create many natural gas reserves," Aliyev noted.

"If Azerbaijan's gas supply was 9 billion cubic meters last year, then in 2027, it will be at least 18 billion cubic meters, or maybe more," Aliyev said.

According to the president, Baku will continue to export oil and electricity to Europe in addition to gas. "Azerbaijan will become a vital strategic energy partner for Europe and the world," Aliyev added.
