The Prime Minister of Georgia and the President of Turkey discussed the regional situation

Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Gharibashvili held talks with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan within the framework of the 77th session of the UN General Assembly in New York, during which the parties emphasized the importance of peace in the region. This was reported by the press service of the Georgian government on Tuesday.

In this context, the parties mentioned Gharibashvili's mediating role in settlement of the Armenian-Azerbaijani conflict, when 15 Armenian servicemen were handed over to Armenia by Azerbaijan in June of last year through the mediation of Georgia. The Armenian side, in its turn, handed over the minefield maps to Azerbaijan through the mediation of Georgia.

At the end of the meeting, the Prime Minister of Georgia invited the President of Turkey to visit Georgia.
