Russia requested to hold a session of the UN Security Council on September 6

The first deputy of the permanent representative of the Russian Federation at the UN, Dmitry Polyansky, announced that Russia has requested to hold a meeting of the UN Security Council on September 6 regarding the situation at the Zaporizhia Nuclear Power Plant (ZNPP).

"In light of the incessant Ukrainian shelling of the NPP and today's reckless provocation by the Kyiv regime, which is aimed at disrupting the visit of IAEA inspectors to the plant, Russia has demanded a session of the UN Security Council on September 6," Polyansky said in his Telegram. As Polyansky noted, the Russian side offered to listen to the general director of the IAEA, Raphael Grossi, regarding the results of the monitoring done at the NPP. "We also expect the participation of UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres," said Polyanski's statement.

It should be noted that earlier, IAEA General Director Grossi announced that the physical integrity of the Zaporizhzhia NPP was damaged several times. However, he still did not assess whether the incidents happened accidentally or on purpose.
