Azerbaijan has banned all humanitarian transportation through the Lachin Corridor

Artsakh information headquarters informs that after the Azerbaijani provocation that took place this morning near the Hakari bridge, all humanitarian passenger and cargo transportation through the Kashatagh (Lachin) corridor has been banned by Azerbaijan.

In particular, 25 medical patients and their relatives were being transported from Artsakh to Armenia by the International Committee of the Red Cross. Still, the further movement of vehicles was prohibited at the illegal Azerbaijani checkpoint operating in the Kashatagh corridor, forcing them to return to Stepanakert.

Apart from that, the passenger transportation of dozens of people on the Stepanakert-Goris-Stepanakert route planned for today was canceled due to urgent humanitarian needs, which was supposed to be carried out by Russian peacekeepers.

The movement of Russian peacekeepers' trucks going to Goris for humanitarian cargo transportation was also stopped.

The Republic of Artsakh authorities repeatedly record that the illegal Azerbaijani checkpoint installed in the Kashatagh (Lachin) corridor is the greatest danger and obstacle in ensuring free movement between Artsakh and Armenia. Today's incident reaffirms the existence of these dangers and obstacles, additionally putting under threat the acute humanitarian needs of the people of Artsakh, even the minimal movement of people and goods by the Red Cross and Russian peacekeepers.

The authorities of Artsakh reaffirm their position that the regime of the Lachin Corridor provided for by the tripartite declaration of November 9, 2020, should be ensured immediately and unconditionally without any Azerbaijani interference, and the decision of the UN International Court of Justice of February 22, 2023, on that issue should be implemented.
