Cavusoglu ruled out the Erdogan-Assad meeting

Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu, commenting on the effectiveness of the Astana process on the live broadcast of the Turkish "Haber Global" TV station, noted that it is "the only appropriate format for a political settlement on the Syrian issue," which also contributes to the dialogue under the auspices of the United Nations in Vienna. "The Assad regime must finally realize that the military path leads to the dismemberment of Syria," he said.

Cavusoglu also called the position of the Syrian opposition constructive in the negotiation process. "The reason for the lack of progress in the negotiations is the Assad regime. Constructive steps are needed to ensure long-term peace in Syria. Assad and his supporters should not label the opposition as terrorists. Turkey has always supported the opponents of the Syrian regime," Cavusoglu said.

Referring to the Turkey-Iran-Syria tripartite summit and the possible Assad-Erdogan meeting, the Turkish Foreign Minister emphasized that these claims are baseless. "Assad is not invited to this event," Cavusoglu said.
