RA Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan also made a speech at the rally following the pre-election march of the "Civil Contract" party. The Prime Minister spoke about the slogan, "Say, we will do."
"With this slogan, we emphasize 2 meanings: the one who speaks in the city of Yerevan is the elector of Yerevan; there is no other speaker; there has not been and will not be; and secondly, the most important feature of the community, the spirit of the capital, is dialogue and participation, so that the people of Yerevan can participate in the new prosperity, the new rise of Yerevan," said the Prime Minister.
He also referred to the debate of mayoral candidates in the Yerevan Council of Elders elections that took place yesterday on Public TV.
"I want to thank our friend, our teammate, Tigran Avinyan, who presented himself as an active, knowledgeable mayor, as a real mayor, and who gave a new speed to implementing Yerevan's 2018 pre-election program. I want to express my bewilderment to those who despised the debate platform.
Standing on stage, imitating the prime minister's voice, is okay; freedom is the value of the revolution. All locations are accessible to every RA citizen. You raise questions and make accusations. Look into the eyes of the KP representative and express what you have to say. But you don't know how to look into people's eyes because you can't because moral refugees can't look into people's eyes. You are afraid that it might be found that you are speaking in someone else's voice, not yours, and you are acting according to a script written by someone else," Pashinyan said.
He also referred to another non-participant in the debate, who, according to the leader, called on the people of Yerevan to vote.
"If you went to a debate, you would shoot with your words; you call others to shoot and run away from a political duel, you cowardly deserter. I will advise those who talk about shooting, those who take Yerevan with blood, to revise their vocabulary and not to try their luck. For you and your godfathers, this is not 1999; it is not October, and even more so, it is not the 27th. This is 2023; it's September, and it's the 17th. The citizens of Yerevan, with their votes, should deprive those who despise the debate, political rivals, and voters of Yerevan from registering their candidacy for mayor of Yerevan. You have that opportunity," said the prime minister.
