Tigran Avinyan, the candidate for Yerevan mayor of the "Civil Agreement" party, addressed the issue of drinking water in the capital. According to him, if no one else can solve this problem, the municipality will start to settle the case.
"We had discussions with "Veolia Water," first of all, regarding the overhaul of sewer lines and the entire infrastructure. "Veolia Water" rightly says that it is limited to a certain volume of annual investments, which is a rather small amount and not enough to change the sewer lines and the entire water line. But "Veolia Water" pays 9–10 billion drams in rent to the state annually. We will solve it just like that. We will talk to the government, and the money that the government receives for the lease of water lines should be directed back to the construction and reconstruction of water lines. It is a feasible task. I'm sure," he said, stressing that the government has implemented many programs. "The most important thing that has been restored in the last one-and-a-half years is that the municipality works with the government and ministries with a common agenda."
