Referring to the steps taken in the past five years to solve the capital's transport problem, Tigran Avinyan, the candidate for Mayor of Yerevan of the "Civil Contract" party, emphasized that the political team did it; one person could not have done it.
"What was implemented by the government, the Yerevan Council of Elders, sorry for the immodesty, was also initiated by the Deputy Prime Minister Tigran Avinyan. Only one person, when implemented by one team, is responsible for that loan. Today, the government is repaying that loan. Initiated by my office, I was the Vice President of the EBRD Board of Governors. Well, let me be a little insolent there, but I can't say that I did it alone," he said, insisting that such programs are done jointly with the government and ministries.
Avinyan also referred to the 10 billion drams given to the municipality by the government in the last few months. When asked why the money had yet to be shown, Avinyan said, "And was there anyone who wanted it?" Was there anyone who wanted those 10 or 20 billion? Was there that person who understood that the problems of this magnitude, which Yerevan has, cannot be solved simply within the framework of its budget?"
