US President Donald Trump addressed the peace talks in Ukraine in an interview with NBC, noting, "We are closer to an agreement with one side."
Trump repeated the statement that he would stop mediation efforts if he did not see progress toward achieving peace between Russia and Ukraine.
"There will come a point when I will tell them to keep going. Keep doing stupid things. Sometimes, I am close to that point, and then something positive happens ... nothing may work out - it is possible, simply impossible. You have to understand that there is a huge hatred between Russia and Ukraine," the US president said.
Trump noted that, while it may not be possible to stop the war in Ukraine, he has made some progress in that direction.
"I think we are closer to an agreement with one side, and the situation with the other side may be more difficult. We will see. At this point, I would not like to specify which side we are closer to. "But we made a good deal for the American people," Trump said, referring to the agreement with Ukraine on the subsoil.
