Iran's Foreign Minister Calls Trump's Promise of Intervention Dangerous

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has criticized US President Donald Trump's statement warning Iranian authorities not to crack down on peaceful protesters and saying Washington "will come to their aid." Araghchi acknowledged that Iran would reject any interference in its internal affairs.

According to preliminary data, at least eight people have been killed during the week-long protests in Tehran.

The protests began when shopkeepers were angry about the devaluation of the Iranian rial against the US dollar, and then spread to other cities, where students and citizens defied the country's religious leadership.

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian said he would listen to the protesters' genuine demands, while the prosecutor general warned that any attempt at instability would be met with a firm response.

Iran's UN Ambassador, Amir Saeed Iravani, called on the Security Council to condemn Trump's statements and stressed that the US would be responsible for any consequences.
