Palestinian Foreign Ministry condemns Netanyahu for criticizing Macron

The Palestinian Foreign Ministry has condemned Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s criticism of French President Emmanuel Macron over his statement that Paris intends to recognize a Palestinian state within months.

“The ministry strongly condemns the unjustified attack and insulting remarks made by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his son against President Emmanuel Macron,” the Ramallah-based ministry said in a statement. Netanyahu had said Macron had “made a serious mistake” by supporting the idea of Palestinian statehood.

Netanyahu, Israel’s longest-serving prime minister, has been outspoken in his opposition to the creation of a sovereign Palestinian state under the so-called two-state solution.
