EU to create voluntary fund to support Ukraine

The European Union is considering setting up its own fund to send 20 to 40 billion euros in military aid to Ukraine on a voluntary basis to avoid a Hungarian veto.

Last month, the EU diplomatic service proposed creating a scheme at the bloc level to send 1.5 million pieces of ammunition to Ukraine. The document initially did not specify the money needed to do the work.

Hungary has consistently refused to participate in any scheme to support Ukraine through EU channels, both military and non-military. Because of this, the EU proposal has been rewritten.
