"The imposition of US supremacy dictates Trump's proposal." Khamenei

Iran will not negotiate with the United States because Washington pursues only its interests. Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei said in response to US President Donald Trump's letter offering talks on Tehran's nuclear program, Iran Insight reports.

Khamenei noted that Trump's proposal is not dictated by the desire for peace but by the imposition of US dominance.

"The persistence of some forces in the negotiations is not aimed at solving problems, but rather at imposing their demands. This is unacceptable for Iran. Iran, of course, does not accept such demands," Khamenei said.

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi announced the day before that Iran would not enter into direct negotiations with the United States as long as they continue their policy of maximum pressure and threats against Tehran.

On March 7, Trump announced that he had sent a letter to Khamenei offering to discuss Iran's nuclear program. According to the American leader, "Iran should not acquire nuclear weapons." He expressed hope that Tehran would negotiate with Washington. Later, the head of the White House promised Tehran consequences if the latter refused to sign an agreement with the United States. Trump did not specify what steps the American side could take but emphasized that Washington does not intend to put up with the current situation in relations with Iran.

On February 4, President Trump signed an order to resume "maximum pressure" on Iran but expressed hope that Washington would not have to use this pressure often.
