The President of Argentina met with the Pope

The BBC reports that Pope Francis canonized the first Argentine saint on Sunday. This event was the occasion of the first meeting between the Pope and the leader of Argentina, Javier Milei.

The Pope is originally from Argentina, and the saint he canonized, Maria Antonia de Paz y Figueroa, better known as Mother Antula, is one of the Jesuits' most revered spiritual figures.

The meeting occurred during a solemn liturgy in St. Peter's Cathedral of the Vatican.

Milei invited the Pope to visit Argentina.

In one of his speeches, the President of Argentina called the Pope an "imbecile."
