The US has lifted restrictions on the sale of F16s to Turkey

The US Congress has removed the clauses restricting the sale of F-16s to Turkey from the country's defense budget bill. The decision was made at a conference attended by senators and representatives from both houses of Congress.

The move came after two amendments introduced by Democratic senators Bob Menendez and Chris Van Hollen that would have made the sale of F-16s to Turkey subject to certain conditions were removed from the Senate version of the annual US defense spending bill.

The changes sought to impose several restrictions on the sale of F-16s and upgrade equipment to Turkey, including not using fighter jets that violate Greek airspace.
