Japan will triple its air defense systems

Japan is considering nearly tripling the number of self-defense air force units equipped with ballistic missile interception capabilities in the country's remote southwestern islands by the end of the fiscal year 2031. The preliminary draft of the project has been submitted to the government for approval.

Japan plans to increase the number of "SDF" type ballistic missile defense units in the archipelago stretching from Kyushu Island to Taiwan.
