Japan's police chief has resigned over the assassination of the former prime minister

The head of the Japanese police, Itaru Nakamura, has resigned, taking responsibility for security failures. According to Nakamura, security lapses led to the July 8 assassination of former Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe. "I submitted a resignation letter," Nikkei newspaper quoted him saying on Thursday.
