BYD to raise electric car prices in China

BYD, the leading Chinese manufacturer of electric cars, has announced another increase in car prices.

The increase will affect several of the company's vehicles that run on alternative energy sources, which, in addition to electric cars, also include vehicles with hybrid engines.

Prices will rise from 2,000 yuan ($280) to 6,000 yuan ($840). In BYD, the increase in prices is explained by the rise in the price of batteries and by the decrease in the number of state subsidies for purchasing electric cars. At the beginning of this year, BYD increased the price of its vehicles several times.
