"We do not give Armenia and Azerbaijan a document ready for signing." Ned Price

US State Department spokesman Ned Price referred to the Washington meeting of Armenian and Azerbaijani Foreign Ministers Ararat Mirzoyan and Jeihun Bayramov and its results.

Price, in particular, said: "At the meeting, the foreign ministers agreed to expand their negotiations and organize another meeting in the coming weeks. I should note that Secretary Blinken was involved in the discussions yesterday, but throughout the day there were opportunities for both sides to meet and try to bridge their differences, in some cases without the active participation of the United States. We believe that continued direct dialogue is key to solving problems and achieving lasting peace.

We are trying to create a space and opportunity for both sides to come together, identify their differences, which are many, and try to bridge them.

But it is not for us to envisage what this lasting comprehensive peace between the two countries might look like. We do not present a document ready for them to sign. We're doing everything we can to help create an opportunity for the diplomacy that they have to undertake themselves, and that's no different than how we approach a number of other challenges around the world. There we have shown the viability and effectiveness of this model.

The historic agreement that was reached between Israel and Lebanon just a few weeks ago, in which the United States played the role of a mediator, a supporter, but we certainly did not dictate terms," Price added.
