"Necessary measures have been taken to extend the life of the nuclear power plant." Mirzoyan

RA Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan met with Rafael Mariano Grossi, the General Director of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), during the minister's working visit to Vienna.

During the meeting, the interlocutors noted with satisfaction the practical cooperation and active dynamics formed between Armenia and the EAEU, which are also facilitated by periodic high-level visits and meetings.

A number of Armenia-EMEA agenda issues were discussed. Taking into account the modern challenges and the growing role of nuclear energy in the current conditions, the importance of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Armenia's participation in the Nuclear Security Ministerial Forum and the main emphasis made in the speech were emphasized. Thoughts were exchanged on projects implemented in the energy and healthcare sectors, particularly in the fields of oncology and radiation medicine.

The IEA's recommendations and standards referenced the safe and secure operation of the RA nuclear power plant. Ararat Mirzoyan noted that, based on the importance of nuclear energy and national priorities, Armenia has taken necessary measures to extend the life of the nuclear power plant until 2036 while exploring new possibilities. In this context, Minister Mirzoyan appreciated the support and mutually beneficial cooperation provided by the AEMG.
