The teams of Argentina and Australia met in the 1/8 finals of the 2022 World Football Championship in Qatar.

In the 57th minute, Julian Alvarez doubled the lead of the Argentines. The Australian team managed to reduce the score difference in the 77th minute. After a shot by Craig Goodwin, the ball hit Enzo Fernandez and ended up in the goal. An own goal was scored.
The Argentine team won with a score of 2:1 and continued the fight in the quarter-finals, where it faced the Netherlands team, which, in turn, left the USA team out of the competition. The meeting will take place on December 9.
