The governor of Syunik today met with the newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of France to Armenia, Olivier Decotigny.
Robert Ghukasyan congratulated the ambassador on his appointment and thanked him for visiting Syunik shortly after handing over the credentials.
"This once again confirms the attention of the French Republic to Syunik, and on behalf of the population of the region, I thank you for the fact that every day we feel the support of France at different levels," said the governor.
Mr.Decotigny mentioned that he had to visit Syunik outside of Yerevan after his appointment, which is not a coincidence. "Syunik is a marz of strategic importance and also faces threats, and the stability of the marz is important for all of Armenia."
During the meeting, the parties discussed the prospects of decentralized cooperation between communities in the economic, cultural, and health sectors.
There was also a reference to the more active implementation of the points of the dormant cooperation agreement between Syunik and Auvergne-Rhone-Alpes.
The governor of Syunik and the high-ranking French diplomat reaffirmed their willingness to deepen bilateral warm, friendly, and close cooperative relations.
