"Security cooperation with Azerbaijan corresponds to our national security priorities." This was stated by the US Assistant Secretary of State for European Affairs, Karen Donfried, before the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, answering the senators' questions regarding the 907th Amendment to the Freedom Support Act.
According to Donfried, security cooperation with Azerbaijan is in line with US national security priorities, including counterterrorism goals, curbing the flow of narcotics and illicit substances, and enhancing the security of the Caspian energy infrastructure; "We welcome Azerbaijan's growing support for European energy security."
