On July 19, Mr. Babken Sedrakyan, General Director of Yerevan Metro after Karen Demirchyan, received Vasilis Maragos, Head of the EU Delegation to Armenia, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary.
Babken Sedrakyan first presented the progress of the second phase of the "Yerevan Metro Reconstruction Project," implemented with the support of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, the European Investment Bank, and the European Union's grant support. The completion presentation will take place in September of this year.
Babken Sedrakyan also presented to the guests the plans for the future development of the metro, particularly the use of modern technologies in underground transport, the purchase of new wagons, the reconstruction of the DEPO, and other plans.
Ambassador Vassilis Maragos expressed hope that the European support for developing and modernizing "green transport" will continue. Expressing his gratitude for the reception, the high-ranking European official hoped that the cooperation started in this field would develop even more. Issues related to the opening ceremony of the drainage tunnel, which will be held in September, were also discussed at the meeting.
