The mayor of Yerevan, Tigran Avinyan, received Canada's ambassador extraordinary and plenipotentiary to Armenia, Andrew Turner. The parties emphasized several areas regarding the establishment of cooperation between Yerevan and Montreal and the agenda of bilateral relations.
Relations between Yerevan and Montreal were established in 1998. In 2001, the parties signed an agreement to declare sister cities. The mayor and the ambassador stated that the signed documents need to be updated to give new momentum to the bilateral relations.
Expressing his gratitude for the warm welcome, Andrew Turner noted that a diplomatic representation in Yerevan is already an essential step for both countries and cities.
