Yerevan will have a new master plan

Specific changes will be made to the law in Yerevan. In cases of light accidents, cars should be moved from the lane in a maximum of 15 minutes. During the regular work consultation, Mayor Tigran Avinyan instructed the Central Committee to initiate changes in the law by taking joint steps.

"We are the only country, the only city in the world that allows such extravagance. Risks are excluded for insurance companies, and we all have to wait to know for sure that there was damage of 233,000 drams. As a result, even in a light collision, a huge problem arises with the accumulations. In the case of accidents that do not involve human casualties or serious injuries, cars should leave the roadway within 15 minutes at the most," the mayor emphasized.

In cooperation with the Ile de France region, detailed analyses of Yerevan's public transport route network were carried out. The final version of the new route network presented and accepted by the WYG company was studied.

At the same time, Yerevan's road network was studied and analyzed, and short-term and long-term action plans were developed to implement complete routes of separated public transport lines. It has been reported that the French partners have made some proposals to increase the efficiency of the route network.

With appropriate design and road construction interventions, the proposed projects will make it possible to transform streets and sidewalks for pedestrians, cyclists, trees, and flowers, defining more sections, facilitating road traffic, and ensuring smaller traffic flows.

"It is so obvious that changes are inevitable that there is no need for additional public discussion. It's not a question of taste here; it's a question of the need for reform, and I think we should move in stages, first with markings and furnishing, then we should go to construction intervention as well, as is the case in Paris. We should start with the main routes with the biggest traffic congestion. Taking into account the trend of increasing the number of cars, we understand that the city of Yerevan will stop one day. Yes, we complicate car traffic, but life becomes complicated. At the same time, we create an opportunity to have public transport, allowing you to move more efficiently and quickly in Yerevan," said the mayor.

Yerevan is the only local government body that has implemented a GIS system for the first time. The platform creates excellent opportunities for city management and information digitization. It has been reported that the system is currently being expanded.

Yerevan will have a new master plan. The work on the development of the document is at the stage of summary. Emphasizing the initiated processes, Mayor Avinyan emphasized that all implemented systems should be combined and have an everyday basis.

"Our ultimate goal is to, after some time, transparently and openly present the architectural planning tasks on each land unit in the GIS map. In other words, this should be a clear right for a person, which Yerevan Municipality transparently represents. By clicking on any individual land unit, the citizen will know that in the given area, there is an opportunity to design a building unit of this size and density with a clear purpose, whether residential or public," emphasized the mayor.
