"Continuous investments in environmental protection will make it possible to create a cleaner urban environment." Tigran Avinyan

Yerevan Mayor Tigran Avinyan hosted the delegation of the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN), which included Director of the Wildlife and Cultural Assets Preservation Fund Ruben Khachatryan, IUCN European Regional Director Boris Erg, IUCN British National Committee Chairman Christopher Mahon. At the end of the meeting, the parties referred to the membership of the Yerevan Municipality, BPMM, and the implementation of joint projects.

Welcoming the guests, Mayor Avinyan noted that the community's priority is preserving green zones in Yerevan and creating new green areas. During the last year alone, the green areas in Yerevan expanded by around 15 hectares; this year, this indicator is about 30 hectares. Parallel to the expansion of green zones, Yerevan Municipality has also initiated several environmental projects in the capital, one of which is to grant the status of a specially protected natural area to the Hrazdan Gorge.

Emphasizing cooperation with international structures, Tigran Avinyan noted that establishing green areas and continuous investments will make it possible to create a cleaner, more comfortable, and favorable urban environment.
