Tigran Avinyan, candidate for mayor of Yerevan, in his speech at the session of the Council of Elders, referred to the rumors about holding extraordinary elections of the Council of Elders.
"Recently, there was a lot of talk about holding extraordinary council elections. I think our citizens have ensured during the past 5 years that our political team has never avoided early elections and accepted the results that were formed as a result of citizens' free expression. The situation created in the country, the forced displacement of thousands of our compatriots from Nagorno-Karabakh, should unite all of us in every possible way to support them, take care of their needs, and support them. And the new elections would not contribute to this in any way. Moreover, they would inflame the already existing tense atmosphere. Now I think it's not time to throw the stones but to collect them," he said.
He thanked all the voters who visited the polling stations, regardless of their choice.
"Protection of your vote has been, is, and will remain our main responsibility. Serving Yerevan and the people of Yerevan is our goal; providing quality services is our daily task. Therefore, I am asking for your support in making Yerevan comfortable and accessible for the people of Yerevan," said Tigran Avinyan.
