Trees planted 40-50 years ago have lost their biological significance due to years and improper care

Ruzanna Sadoyan, Doctor of Biological Sciences, Dean of the Faculty of Biology, Chemistry, and Geography of the Academy of Sciences, told Radar Armenia, "I, as a specialist, believe that the trees planted in the streets of Yerevan 40-50 years ago (sycamores, sycamores, oaks) have lost their biological significance over the years due to improper care." Ruzanna Sadoyan is one of the experts who signed the protocol published by the "Greening and Environmental Protection" Association, during the scientific workshop held on February 23, 2023, in Yerevan Municipality,

According to her, trees are biological beings that grow old over the years. "When trees get old, they lose their original biological functions, which implies active photosynthesis, absorption of dust, and release of a sufficient amount of oxygen. From an environmental and aesthetic point of view, if you walk around the streets of Yerevan, you will see that there is a deplorable state, and the trees, as a result of improper pruning and aging, are subject to replacement because at the moment they are not performing their functions," noted Ruzanna Sadoyan.

According to the expert, the program cannot be implemented in one day or month. It should be implemented in stages.

The Doctor of Biological Sciences also mentioned that ASPU has a memorandum of cooperation with "Greening and Environmental Protection" CNCO, and there is active cooperation. Their specialists' involvement in these discussions or scientific conferences is legitimate and logical.
