Yerevan Deputy Mayor Tigran Avinyan presented the works in greening and environmental protection in the capital. According to him, 11 thousand trees were pruned in the last quarter, "This is a necessary and periodic process that ensures the health of the trees and the safety of pedestrians and drivers.
Forestation works were carried out on more than 10 ha of surface in the Tsitsernakaberd and Saralanj sections. In total, about 5,000 trees were planted.
To ensure uninterrupted nutrition of new and existing trees and saplings, in 2023, it is planned to carry out the repair, modernization, and construction work of 25,000 line meters of the irrigation system.
Avinyan noted that large-scale works would be carried out next year in the Hrazdan gorge, "There are 9 thousand cubic meters of garbage in the water and adjacent green areas. It will be thoroughly cleaned, and new garbage barriers will be installed.
Hrazdan River and Gorge is one of the natural symbols of Yerevan and one of the citizens' favorite recreational places. Along with the mentioned works, we plan to give this zone the status of a protected nature area. The picturesque gorge of Hrazdan should bring back the association with the resort, not with the restaurants."
