"Attention to the sports life will be much greater, our effort towards sports schools will be much greater, and many of you know that large-scale constructions are already being carried out not only in Yerevan but also in the entire territory of the Republic. The Shengavit sports school has been almost completely renovated, and next year, we plan to bring several more sports schools up-to-date. We have discussed the introduction of modular schools in the city and the territory of the Republic with the colleagues of the Ministry of Education and Culture of the Republic of Armenia. Thank you for your effort and dedication," said Tigran Avinyan, Deputy Mayor of Yerevan.
"It was essential that we could hold two major competitions in Yerevan, which had never happened, not even in Soviet Armenia. European Senior Boxing Championships and followed by the World Youth and Junior Sambo Championships. As a result of everything going well, immediately after the end of the sambo competition, if before the start of the competition, we negotiated to bring the senior European championship, and they were thinking about whether to give us the right or not, after the championship, they asked us to hold the senior world championship in Yerevan, and it will be in November 2023. Before that, in April, Yerevan will host the European weightlifting championship, which is also an Olympic ranking. This is another step towards returning to the sports map of the world as a sports country, as a country that can host such major competitions," said RA Deputy Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports Karen Giloyan.
