Syrian army troops have reached the outskirts of the city of Al-Hasakah in northeastern Syria, Al Jazeera reported.
The soldiers, supported by tribal forces, were seen at a crossroads on the southern entrance to the city after advancing from Raqqa and Deir ez-Zor.
The issue of control over the city and province of Al-Hasakah was the main point of disagreement in talks between Abdi, the commander of the Kurdish-led SDF, and Syrian President Bashar al-Assad during a meeting on Monday.
Abdi reportedly requested that the city and province be placed under complete SDF control, a request that the Syrian interim president rejected and threatened to take it by force if it was not surrendered.
