Japan's Prime Minister to dissolve parliament

Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi announced on Friday that she will dissolve the lower house of parliament, the House of Representatives. The country will hold a national election to gain voter support.

“The current prime minister is the leader of the Liberal Democratic Party, which has no majority in either the upper or lower house. I have chosen this path to find out the will of the voters,” she said.
