Iran sold nearly $3 billion worth of ballistic and anti-aircraft missiles to Russia

Iran has sold Russia about $2.7 billion in ballistic and anti-aircraft missiles. The arms contracts were signed in October 2021, a few months before the Russian military's large-scale invasion of Ukraine, Bloomberg reports.

The purchases included hundreds of Fath-360 short-range ballistic missiles, about 500 other short-range ballistic missiles, and about 200 surface-to-air missiles for air defense systems.

Tehran has also supplied Russia with millions of bullets and artillery shells. The Iranian authorities have also transferred Shahed-136 kamikaze drone technology and production capabilities, enabling Russia to produce the Geran-2 drones in the country.

The contract for the drones, signed in early 2023, was worth $1.75 billion. In total, Russia has spent more than $4 billion on Iranian weapons since the end of 2021 and expects additional supplies in the near future, Bloomberg's source noted.
