Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said that the protests in his country were peaceful, but that terrorist groups had infiltrated the protesters.
Araghchi made the statement during a meeting with the heads of the diplomatic corps. He noted that the government had immediately started negotiations with traders and interested parties.
The minister noted that the government had taken several measures and reforms to address the peaceful protests.
“Terrorist armed groups infiltrated the protesters to divert the protests from their main path. We have evidence that they opened fire on security forces to artificially increase the number of victims, which is in line with Trump’s wishes.”
He stressed that Western countries, especially the United States, have previously responded to protests with security and harsh methods. “What is happening now is not protests, but a terrorist war against the country,” he said.
According to Araghchu, the rioters set fire to 53 mosques. “They not only set fire to 53 mosques, but they didn’t even spare the wounded and shot them in the head.”
The Iranian Foreign Minister also assured that the authorities are now entirely in control of the situation in the country.
