An Iranian prosecutor and several security guards were killed during riots in the city of Esfarayen in North Khorasan province, the provincial judiciary chief said on Friday.
“Public and Revolutionary Prosecutor Ali Akbar Hosseinzadeh was present in the city during the riots in Esfarayen yesterday evening to conduct field surveillance along with police and security forces,” the official said.
He said the rioters set fire to the trailer carrying the prosecutor and security guards and prevented emergency teams from approaching them.
“An order has been issued to identify those responsible for this incident,” he added.
