US President Donald Trump has given the "green light" to a bipartisan bill that would allow sanctions against China, India, Brazil, and other countries that buy Russian oil. One of the authors of the initiative, a Republican Senator from South Carolina, gave the "green light" to the bill on sanctions against Russia. The senator reported on the social platform X.
The bill was developed by Graham together with Democratic Senator Richard Blumenthal and other senators. The document envisages imposing 500 percent tariffs on imports from countries that buy oil, gas, uranium, and other goods from Russia.
Graham expressed the opinion that the adoption of the law would be timely now, "because Ukraine is making concessions for the sake of peace, while Putin only talks, continuing to kill innocent people." According to him, the bill would allow President Trump to punish countries that buy cheap Russian oil and thus "fuel Putin's war machine."
Lindsey Graham expects a vote on the bill in the US Congress to take place as early as next week.
