Levon Azizyan, Director of the Hydrometeorology and Monitoring Center SNCO, reported on his social media page:
“A storm in Istanbul. The wind reached 11-12 points on the Beaufort scale, which is equivalent to a hurricane force of up to 120 km/h.
Huge waves were observed in the coastal area, particularly in the Black Sea region, and trees were uprooted in the city streets. Ferry services were suspended in the Bosphorus Strait due to waves and strong winds.
The plane was unable to land at Sabiha Gökçen Airport. The minaret of the Hagia Sophia Mosque was damaged.”
