US President Donald Trump has signed a memorandum terminating US membership in 66 international organizations.
Of these organizations, 31 operate under the auspices of the UN, and 35 outside it. According to the White House, all of them "no longer serve US interests."
A complete list of these organizations is available on the White House website. These include the Venice Commission of the Council of Europe, the Science and Technology Center of Ukraine (STCU), created to promote the non-proliferation of weapons of mass destruction; the Office of the Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General on Violence against Children, the UN Democracy Fund, the UN Population Fund, the International Union for Conservation of Nature, and others.
At the same time, as noted by US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, the Donald Trump administration has deemed the organizations whose memberships are being terminated "ineffective," "harmful," "mismanaged," "redundant," or "a threat to national sovereignty, freedoms, and shared prosperity."
