Donald Trump has said that Russia would have taken complete control of Ukraine if it weren't for his "involvement."
The US president has also criticized NATO, recalling that before he came to the White House, the alliance's countries spent 2% of their GDP on defense, while Russia and China are not afraid of NATO without the US.
"Remember, for all the big NATO fans: they were 2% of GDP, and most of them didn't pay their dues until I came. I, with respect, brought them up to 5% of GDP, and they are paying immediately. Everyone said it couldn't be done, but it was possible because, first of all, they are all my friends. Without my participation, Russia would now control all of Ukraine.
Remember also that I single-handedly ended eight wars, and NATO member Norway foolishly decided not to award me the Nobel Peace Prize. But that's not important. What's important is that I saved millions of lives. Russia and China are not afraid of NATO without the United States, and I doubt NATO would be there for us if we really needed it.
Everyone is lucky that I rebuilt our military in my first term and continue to do so. We will always be with NATO, even if they are not with us. The only country that China and Russia fear and respect is the United States of America, restored by Trump. Let's Make America Great Again," he wrote on Truth Social.
