A U.S. Customs and Immigration Police officer shot and killed a woman in Minneapolis, Minnesota, after she allegedly tried to ram an ICE patrol car.
U.S. authorities have described the woman's actions as "domestic terrorism," and the officer's shooting as self-defense.
The incident occurred during a protest against ICE's enforcement of immigration laws.
"The attempted murder of our law enforcement officers by driving a car is an act of domestic terrorism," the Department of Homeland Security, which oversees ICE, said in a statement.
"The ICE officer, fearing for his life, the lives of his colleagues, and the safety of the public, fired in self-defense," the department said in a statement.
According to CBS, the victim is 37-year-old poet Renee Goode, a U.S. citizen and resident of the area.
