The beginning of the year was marked by events surrounding Venezuela. On January 3, the US Air Force struck military facilities in the Venezuelan capital Caracas and then arrested President Nicolas Maduro and his wife. They were transferred to the US and detained.
In an interview with Radar Armenia, Robert Ghevondyan, an expert at the Armenian Council, notes that Venezuela was a stronghold for China through Russia.
"In general, it can be seen that Trump has decided that in the competition with China, all the problems that China can create for the US should be eliminated," he said, adding that he started all this with Venezuela.
According to political scientist Armen Petrosyan, what happened in Venezuela and the events surrounding Greenland prove one reality: "In essence, international law and the system no longer function, and the factor of force is becoming influential in international relations," he stressed.
