Exiled Crown Prince Shah Reza Pahlavi said in an interview with Fox News that he is ready to lead Iran’s transition from a dictatorship to democracy.
Pahlavi stressed that he aims to bring about peaceful change through a national referendum and a constitutional assembly.
“At the call of my compatriots, I am stepping forward to lead this transition from dictatorship to a future democracy,” he said.
The crown prince added that his role is to help his compatriots achieve that goal without bias, provided that the result is a secular democracy.
“I have prepared my whole life to serve my nation,” Pahlavi said, adding that he is more than ever ready to return to Iran to join his compatriots in the “last battle.”
