US President Donald Trump has said that Republicans must win the 2026 midterm elections or Democrats will find a reason to impeach him.
“You have to win the midterm elections because if we don’t win, they’re just going to… I mean, they’re going to find a reason to impeach me,” Trump told Republican lawmakers at a meeting in Washington. “I’m going to be impeached,” he continued.
Trump’s supporters narrowly control the House of Representatives. He has urged Republicans to put aside their internal divisions and convince disgruntled American voters of the need to move forward with his policies.
“They say if you win the presidential election, you lose the midterms. I want you to explain to me what the hell is going on in the public mind,” he said.
