Iranian officials have accused the United States of interfering in Iran’s internal affairs. Ali Shamkhani, a senior adviser to Iran’s supreme leader, wrote on his social media page:
“The Iranian people are well aware of the attempts to ‘rescue’ Americans from Iraq and Afghanistan to Gaza. Any attempt at interference that approaches Iran’s security under a fabricated pretext will be stopped even before it is implemented, with a crushing response. Iran’s national security is a red line, not an adventurous Twitter platform,” he wrote.
Ali Larijani, the secretary of Iran’s National Security Council, said that US interference in Iran’s internal affairs could destabilize the entire Middle East and seriously harm US interests in the region.
