The administration of US President Donald Trump has shown support for Azerbaijan’s peace agenda, Hikmet Hajiyev, an aide to the Azerbaijani president, told The Washington Times, the report said.
According to Hajiyev, the Azerbaijani side highly appreciates that the US president has responded promptly to Azerbaijan’s peace initiatives, particularly the normalization of relations with Armenia, amendments to Article 907 in Congress, and guidance on the development of Azerbaijan’s relations with Russia and Israel.
According to him, Article 907, which previously presented restrictions, contradicts the consolidation of peace. “The governments of Azerbaijan and Armenia are working transparently and consistently to consolidate peace, but in some cases, inappropriate and divisive legislative initiatives are being put forward in Congress.”
